Round Table Conversation: Sudan after al-Bashir – Time for Democracy and Revolutionary Change?

Winds of change are blowing in Sudan with President Omar al-Bashir’s fall from power in April 2019 after months of protests. Is this a democratic breakthrough? Do we witness a revolutionary change? What are the risks for authoritarian backlash? While the strong mobilization and the non-violent protests of the Sudanese Professionals Association allow for hope about democratic change, many questions remain unanswered.

The Forum for Africa Studies invites to a round-table with well-informed and knowledgeable speakers: Ms. Afaf Doleeb(Sudanese Activist, Master Student in Peace & Conflict) and Dr. Johan Brosché (Dept. of Peace & Conflict Research), and chaired by Prof. Sten Hagberg (Forum for Africa Studies).
