- Föreläsare: Yuko Adachi is a Professor in the Department of Russian Studies, Sophia University, Tokyo, Japan. She holds PhD from the School of Slavonic and East European Studies, University College London (UCL). Prior to her doctoral studies, she worked at the International Monetary Fund (IMF) after obtaining an MA in International Relations from the School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS), Johns Hopkins University. Her main research interests focus on Russia’s corporate governance, the development and growth of large Russian firms, as well as business-government relations in Russia. Her publications include: “Dynamics of State-Business Relations and the Evolution of Capitalism in Russia in an Age of Globalization”, in Capitalism and World Economy, T. Hirai (ed.), Routledge, 2015; Building Big Business in Russia: the impact of informal corporate governanace practices, Routledge, 2010.

This presentation considers the development of Russian business elites from a perspective of informal practices and power networks in business and politics in the Russian context. A particular focus will be placed on the continuity and change in the business/corporate elite formation and activities, mainly concentrating on the Putin era.
