Miranda Navarro has a Ph.D. in Hispanic Studies from the University of Edinburgh. His research deals with Hispanic-American racial thought in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Recent publications include “José Martí: A rendering of Black issues in the United States,” in Syncing the Americas: José Martí and the New Modernity (2017) and “Degenerates and Criminals: The Concern of Race in Alcides Arguedas’s Pueblo Enfermo” in Espacio Abierto, (December 2018).
