The seminar is postponed due a COVID-19 outbreak. New date: Thursday 23 April.
The Estonian Swedish diet has historically been seasonal, dependent on access to various raw materials. Nowadays, only a few food traditions remain. Rain Käärst and Eero Reinu have together with photographer Merilin Kaustel-Lehemets compiled the book "Our flavors of Nuckö". At the seminar they will talk about their book and present some traditional dishes that could be found on the Estonian Swedish menu 100 years ago. The recipes in the book have been collected from the local population on Nuckö as well as Swedes who have their roots on Nuckö.
The authors have collected a variety of recipes for good home cooking that are reproduced in the book in a slightly modified and modernized form. In addition to recipes, they also wrote down stories about the villages in the area.
The lecturers will also offer the audience to taste some traditional food.
NOTE! The presentation will be held in English.
