The lecture is an obligatory teaching test for those applying for admittance as docent and it should be possible for students and others with basic academic education in the relevant field to follow it. The lecture will last for 45 minutes and afterwards the audience may ask questions. The lecture will be given in English.
Chairperson: Prof. Jonas Bergquist
Representative of the Docentship Committee: Prof. Adolf Gogoll
Inductively Coupled Plasma – Mass Spectrometry (ICP-MS) is an incredibly sensitive technique for trace metal analysis, which allows detection at sub-part per billion.
In this lecture I will describe the fundamentals of the ICP-MS technique, and then as a case study will show the specific usage of the method to measure Fe in seawater and hydrothermal plume samples from a scientific cruise that I participated in some years ago.
