The State Institute of Racial Biology was opened in Uppsala in 1922. In 1956/57 the Institute itself was discontinued and parts of the Institute were absorbed by Uppsala University, Department of Medical Genetics. The archives of the Institute of Racial Biology are held by the Uppsala University Library.
In the spring of 2021, CEMFOR organised four dialogue seminars with interested groups. We focused on racial biology, the painful legacy and its consequences, and racism, which is still alive today. It is with these conversations that the work now moves forward.
We invite groups, associations, individuals concerned by racial biology and racism to participate with, for example, a film screening, poem, duodji, presentation/lecture, performance, exhibit/poster.
Students, researchers working inside and outside Uppsala University are invited to participate/contribute.
People working with issues related to the consequences of racial biology and racism, for example in government institutions, archives, museums, municipalities and associations are welcome to participate/contribute.
