Silvia Riccardi is a postdoctoral researcher in the departments of English and of Modern Languages at the University of Uppsala. Her research and teaching reside at the intersections of literature, aesthetics, and the visual arts in the English and Italian cultural contexts. She has written on the reception of Dante Alighieri in England, most recently on William Blake’s illustrations to the Commedia in Blake: An Illustrated Quarterly, and is working on a monograph on Dark Romanticism which examines the deconstruction of human anatomy in the works of William Blake, Henry Fuseli, and Mary Shelley. Her postdoctoral project revolves around literary and pictorial forms of Biomorphism, with special focus on William Blake and a comparative approach to Ovid and Dante, investigating how the relationship between humans and nonhumans as well as words and images prompts aesthetic negotiations across borders.
