Uncomfortable Institutional Attachments
Ellen Suneson, Department of Gender Studies, Lund University
About the seminar: In this seminar I attend to uncomfortable, agonizing and at points embarrassing attachments between feminist or queer feminist scholars and academic institutions. I suggest that lingering with the emotional and intellectual ties between feminist and queer feminist scholars and the institutions within which we often reside might facilitate a less ideal yet more trustworthy framework from which to conceptualize the complex relation between individuals and structures.
About the presenter: Ellen Suneson is an art historian and visual studies scholar working on contemporary art and scholarly methodologies, with a particular focus on feminist and queer feminist perspectives. She is a lecturer at the Department of Gender Studies at Lund University and defended her doctoral dissertation "Portraying Unease: the Art and Politics of Uncomfortable Attachments" during the spring semester of 2022.
