The years 2021-2023 we celebrate the discovery of insulin, the first therapeutic use of insulin and the Nobel prize awarded for these landmarks.

To acknowledge the historical as well as contemporary significance of diabetes we arrange an interdisciplinary symposium that focus in on the central role that the dog plays for the scientific understanding of diabetes as well as for the handling of the disease. Distinguished international researchers as well as and local speakers with expertise in this area will present (with elements of demonstration) perspectives from history of medicine, anthropology, veterinary medicine and therapeutics.
