Science and engineering education today needs to prepare students to contribute to addressing complex sustainability problems, such as climate change and resource scarcity. However, integrating sustainability into science and engineering education is often challenging for both teachers and students. In this workshop, we will talk about what we as teachers can do to better prepare our students for addressing future sustainability challenges. More specifically, we will talk about how the concept of "wicked problems" can be used as a tool for teaching sustainability in science and engineering education that allows us to talk about sustainability as something that is important and challenging rather than fuzzy and mostly about "empty words". We will alternate between theory and practical activities and my ambition with the workshop is that participants will leave with concrete ideas for how they could use wicked problems in their teaching.
