Presentation 1: 
”It’s like someone makes your entire existence invalid”: A study of non-binary people’s experiences of embodiment and negotiating institutional lines

ABSTRACT: Through a combination of autoethnographical narratives and in-depth interviews, this thesis examines Swedish non-binary people's experience of gendered embodiment as well as inhabiting, navigating, and resisting society and its institutional lines. The thesis also examines how different social categories such as sexuality, (dis)ability, and class together with gender coproduce this experience. Through the analysis, it became was clear that it was difficult for non-binary people to be recognised as coherent subjects, often being seen as the abject instead. This could be exacerbated if one not only deviated from the straight line of gender, but also from other institutional lines and thus did not follow the expected trans line. It was clear that one’s experiences as a non-binary person could not fully be reduced to one’s position in relation to any specific line, be it gender, sexuality, class, or body normativity, but was rather a result of all those lines.

Presentation 2: 
A/Wakening, Healing and Caring in the Pandemic Borderland(s) - Theorizing an Emancipating, Pleasurable and Restful Black femme form in Gender Studies

ABSTRACT: Through a creative approach and interaction with black femmes and women de couleur’s creative forms, works and writings to theorize, this thesis is treading some underexplored waters in exploring form in Gender Studies in the Swedish context in my intersections of blackness, queerness, pleasure, femme-inist theory and methodology. In the use of what I choose to call mixed femmebodimotive and pleasurable methodologies and methods I use my body and its emotions oozing from it as a tool for theorizing in the intersections of gender, sexuality, blackness, care and its connections to water, kinship, language, pleasure and rest. Here. I tend to various intersections of these to find new ways of swAfrican (Swedish and African Tanzanian) Black, femme, borderland(s) being in the world. These explorations lead me to the importance of form and texture for knowledge production as it may show other dimensions of theoretical thoughts and problems. In highlighting this, I also show how the master (thesis) form may be approached differently by Black Femmes of color and thus illuminating what issues these bodies have in white academic spaces.
