Welcome to the Thursday seminar: From stereotype to entrepreneur: exploring the logics at play in gendering and racializing the geek.
REGISTER FOR THE SEMINAR "EXPLORING THE LOGICS AT PLAY IN GENDERING AND RACIALIZING THE GEEK" >>
About the seminar
In the seminar I will start off by presenting some preliminary findings from our ongoing research project ‘The Geek as gatekeeper? Changing relations between gender, race and technology’. The aim of this project is to trace how the figuration of ‘the geek’ includes and excludes and how its shifting articulations are transforming available identities in technology education.
In a second part of the seminar I will give some examples of how the research group have worked with a (more informal) blog and how it has become key to reflect and dig deeper into, for example, questions about race and intersectionality.
